How to Get from Don Mueang Airport to Hua Hin
Don Mueang is north of Bangkok and Hua Hin is southwest of it, so this drive has to get around the city before it can head anywhere useful — roughly an hour more than the same trip from Suvarnabhumi. There is no direct airport coach from Don Mueang, which makes the public transport options noticeably worse than from the other airport.

Why this takes longer than from Suvarnabhumi
It is pure geography. Suvarnabhumi is on the south-eastern side of Bangkok and can pick up the ring road heading southwest almost immediately. Don Mueang is on the northern edge, so the first forty minutes of the journey are spent getting around a city you are not going to.
That also means the Bangkok traffic peak affects this route much more than it affects the same trip from Suvarnabhumi. A late-afternoon landing at Don Mueang can turn a three-hour drive into four. If your flight lands between about 4pm and 7pm, plan on the longer end.
Once clear of the city the road is the same Rama II route south, with the same intermittent construction delays described on the Suvarnabhumi guide.
Practical tips
- There is no direct airport coach from Don Mueang to Hua Hin. Every public option means crossing Bangkok to a terminal or station first.
- Give us your flight number — low-cost carriers dominate Don Mueang and delays are common. A person checks the flight before the driver sets off, and 60 minutes of free waiting are included.
- If you are still choosing flights, landing at Suvarnabhumi saves roughly an hour on this journey.
- Cha-am and Pranburi are a further 20–40 minutes beyond Hua Hin. Give us the hotel name when you book.
Frequently asked questions
How long does Don Mueang to Hua Hin take?
Three to three and a half hours for about 230 km, and longer if you land during the Bangkok evening peak. It is roughly an hour more than the same journey from Suvarnabhumi.
Is there a direct bus from Don Mueang to Hua Hin?
No. Unlike Suvarnabhumi, which has the Roong Reuang direct coach, every public route from Don Mueang requires getting into Bangkok first — typically to Sai Tai Mai terminal or a railway station — which adds a couple of hours and a luggage transfer.
Why is Don Mueang slower than Suvarnabhumi for Hua Hin?
Don Mueang is north of Bangkok; Hua Hin is southwest. The drive has to work around the city before it heads the right way. Suvarnabhumi is already on the correct side and joins the ring road straight away.
